They report that Lindsay Lohan was late to arrive and had many delays during the shoot (all of which seems true, though the gossip makes it seem harsh). Upi cam see the end result of the shoot in the below behind-the-scenes video:

In the interview with Elle, Lindsay Lohan talks about how lonely she is living the life of a celebrity. She often has no friends around her – just paid assistants – and flocks to crowds to appease her loneliness. Lindsay shares that she takes her notebook with her to vent – and release – her emotions when she needs to. Speaking of emotions, the article details a tearful confrontation between Lindsay & Sam at Bungalow 8. All of this is detailed in the magazine because the interview never took place – in the end, only a few questions were answered by email. The best part of the article is this:

“Lindsay Lohan is a contradiction. Most of the time, Lindsay is impossible to pin down. But in the moments you are together, you will see her strip down to her soul, exposing herself so completely that you are left in no doubt as to the type and intensity of every feeling running through her.

It is when she is asked the most direct questions that she is most elusive. She cannot be constant because she is ruled by the moment. It is frustrating. It is exhausting. But it is real.”

And, in the end, isn’t it this rawness what appeals to everyone about Lindsay?

Lindsay talked with NYLON about having her picture taken (as in photo shoots, not the paparazzi!). Lindsay says she loves modeling and if she could sign with IMG, she’d “do that… because that’s fun for me. That’s not work.”

Lindsay continues talking about the fact that she’s become a tabloid obsession:

“I can’t change that. And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career – they’re like the Burn Books of Hollywood… but I really don’t feel like I should have to prove myself to anyone because of living out my college years in the public eye. I’m glad everything happened the way it did.”

A great life lesson to us all – to be happy for what life has dealt us, not bitter about it. Lindsay also talks about Britney Spears and respecting her as an entertainer, vs an artist. Lindsay then continues in talking about her future and what we’ll be seeing Lindsay do, confirming that she and Sean Penn want to work together.

“I’m talking to [lots of people]. One is Sean Penn – I spoke to him again the other day. We’re trying to get Seth Rogen for this project, but Seth won’t call us back. So call us back, Seth, if you’re reading this!”

Lindsay Lohan recreated Madonna’s 1984 MTV Video Music Awards “Like a Virgin” performance, saying”

“When I was little, every day after school I would come home and put in her The Immaculate Collection disc and karaoke to it around the whole house.”

This is the second time in recent months that Lindsay pays homage to a female icon. She also appeared nude in New York Magazine recreating Marilyn Monroe’s “Last Sitting” portraits.

As shared yesterday, Lindsay Lohan sat down for an candid chat with Interview Magazine for their February 2009 edition. She also posed in a very sexy photoshoot for the edition of the magazine.

In the very candid interview, Lindsay Lohan talks about what it’s like to live in the “fish bowl” that is Hollywood. Lindsay mentions how she’d like to give back, to do things that make her feel fulfilled, but hates that people assume it’s a press stunt. She’s annoyed not to have time to herself:

“There are things I want to do, and people don’t understand that. You know, my car accident that I got into, where I got my first charge, I wouldn’t have been speeding up like I was if I didn’t have people shoving cameras in my windows.”

Lindsay blames her accident on the paparazzi! And I really hope that legislation passes that gives police some enforcement to keep them further away – there’s no reason they should invade so much of her personal space. Lindsay says that the paparazzi are always “instigating and antagonizing you” in order to get pictures that will pay off.

Lindsay then goes on about how she got into her career and the misplaced assumptions that she wanted to be a “celebrity”, ending up turning her into a caricature of herself.

“In terms of what people see of me, I have become this girl who just loves to be photographed, doesn’t know how to focus, doesn’t know how to work on set, just loves the attention, knows how to go out at night, knows how to party. And you know what? I was 20 years old. I never went to college. And I lived maybe six months out of my life like that, doing something wrong, and then I stopped. God forbid I should have ever learned my lesson. But at this point it’s so hard for people to even believe that there was a lesson to be learned at all, because they just think I’m wrong. All these people think I’m never going to be right, because it’s more interesting to fabricate this other girl. Who wants to read a tabloid story about a girl who is doing well?”

What did Lindsay want to be?

“I wanted to be a movie star. But movie stars are not what they used to be.”

Lindsay goes on to talk about the “great ones” in film, and the lack of those being made in Hollywood these days. She then talks about Marilyn Monroe and the respect she got for her daring re-interpration of the Marilyn Monroe photoshoot.

Lindsay mentions that she just got a new script from Charles Shyer, who co-wrote her first film, The Parent Trap. Despite this good news, Lindsay seems worried that the misconception of herself by people – in the industry, the media and fans – is hurting her ability to pursue acting.

“But what hurts me the most is that I work just as hard as any other actress around my age, like Scarlett Johansson, but I just don’t get the opportunities that they get because people are so distracted by the mess that I created in my life. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to last forever.”

The interview was conducted in early October at Chateau Marmont, a hotel Lindsay admits to living in for 2 years “Who blogs that much money on a hotel?” she reflects. But Lindsay knows it was her own choices that led to the state her life was in:

“I did it to myself, and I have to deal with the consequences. I’m thankful for what I can take out of it. Now I feel clear. That’s my past, and I’m a different person now. I have goals and I’m working to achieve them. I’m not hanging out with people who are out every night getting fucked up.”

Lindsay admits, with a smile, that she’s happy. But she’s not yet ready to talk publicly about her relationship with Samantha Ronson. Why? Because she is worried about jinxing it: “the second I start talking about whomever I’m seeing, a month or two later it’s failed.”

Lindsay says it’s “obvious” who she’s seeing, and that it’s “no shock to anyone” that she and Sam have been seeing each other for “quite some time.” Check out this cute photo of the couple in Vegas! In a rare candid moment, Lindsay says:

“She’s a wonderful person and I love her very much.”

Being candid does not stop there. Lindsay says she’s “maybe” been with a girl before, and would “maybe, yeah” classify herself as bisexual, though not as lesbian. She’d rather not classify herself at all, but instead go on “appreciat[ing] people” of all kinds. Would Lindsay marry? Perhaps eventually. Kids? When she’s ready, when her “shit” is in line.

Lindsay says her family has been very supportive of her, regardless of whether she’s with a guy or a girl. Lindsay even provides guidance to her younger sister Ali, telling her to not be “afraid of who she wants to be,” using her own choices as an example of living that. To her father, Lindsay says his actions have hurt her. Lindsay insists Michael is not a bad guy, but just someone making “bad choices” – they are not talking right now.

Lindsay Lohan, as we know from her last interview, admits to being a TV junkie. So, what does she watch? Gossip Girl!! And on her blogging, it’s to let people know who she is inside.

“I don’t want people to think that I’m just an empty fucking whatever.”

The interview continues by talking about Lindsay’s goals for her music career and her acting, and the high praise that Rick Schwartz gives to Lindsay for Labor Pains – how he’s “spread[ing] the gospel of Lindsay.” Lindsay is sure she’ll find the right project to recapture the praise of Hollywood – that she’s a fighter, is “up for a challenge”, and will keep going.

In her interview with Marie Claire UK, which appears to have been done at the same time as the US one, Lindsay opens up about a lot of concrete issues in her life:

On her dad: “It was kind of just like whether [my dad] was gonna be there, what he would be like. We didn’t know what to expect from him, which was difficult. I knew so much at the age of 12 – I’d seen so much. So it’s surprising to me that I got into certain things that I got into, because I knew not to.”

On her stint in rehab: “It was like a vacation, because no one bothered me.”

On having children: “At some point, I want to adopt a kid as well. A child in need or a new born from another country. I’m not sure.”

On making music: “Obviously I want to sell records, but I do it because I find it therapeutic. In music I can be myself.”

Lindsay was described in the interview as distracted, with acute ADD, but in a very Lindsay way. Constantly texting, changing clothes or downloading songs. The interview was conducted on the same day back in May when Ali & Dina were on The View, and they watched the segment prior to the interview.

Although Lindsay Lohan refused to comment on Samantha Ronson during the interview, she is said to have made many references to her (and Sam’s dog was outside Lindsay’s trailer on the set of Labor Pains, where the interview was conducted). When talking tattoos, Lindsay says:

“Samantha has a bunch of stars, so I got that. And she got this” – indicating a little heart.

Lindsay Lohan says she’s looking to buy a house “with someone” and says she’s really happy. When noting that Samantha Ronson has been a good influence on Lindsay, she doesn’t deny that Sam is a great person and a good influence on those around her, but that:

“I think that anything that’s changed in my life is because of me. I’ve gone through it and I’ve had to deal with it and I’ve made the decision to move forward.”

They talk about Lindsay’s recovery from post-rehab career turmoil, and her work on projects like Labor Pains, Ugly Betty, and her new album, as well as taking a page from Robert Downey Jr.’s book in terms of image recovery. Lindsay says she’s learned from her experiences, and plans to “never go back.”

Apparently, Dina Lohan is no longer Lindsay’s full-time manager. Jenni Muro now has that title. And, being a survivor of ovarian cancer, she has been able to shed some perspective on Lindsay’s life. But she’s also been a smart manager – Jenni has encouraged the paparazzi to take photos of Lindsay on set, rather than out for night life.

Lindsay talks about the unhealthy lifestyle she had before – of living in hotels because she didn’t want to be alone. She knew there’d always be people downstairs if she needed them. But Lindsay realizes that “wasn’t a way of life.” And neither was being flippant about her career – Lindsay sees the responsibility that comes with being a star.

“It’s a lot of pressure, because everyone’s depending on you. And your mood, when you go on set, everybody feels it. On a day when you’re tired, it’s important to just say good morning to everyone so they’re kind of aware that it’s gonna be a good day. Jamie Lee Curtis told me that.”

Labor Pains director Lara Shapiro says nothing but great things of Lindsay on the set:

“Lindsay has incredible comedic instincts. She’s such a natural, and it’s amazing to watch her bring things to life. The lightness and quickness she brings is just really fun to watch.”

Lindsay Lohan makes a brief mention of her father in connection with his alleged daughter. She sounded tired about it, and in the dark for years. This is when she decided “enough is enough” and shut down communication with him for a while. As Lindsay says, “until he decides to be a grown up.”

Lindsay was reportedly offered $700,000 to pose for an 8-page spread for Playboy for their 55th anniversary issue in January. Lindsay Lohan’s rep had this to say to Playboy reps:

“If there’s nudity, then the answer’s no … She’s not going down the [New York] magazine road again”
