Machete is a film by Robert Rodriguez. It is a full-length movie expansion of the 2-minute fake trailer that was featured in the 2007 film, Grindhouse, as seen below:

Machete will star Danny Trejo as Machete, a renegade former Mexican Federale.The triller involves Machete attempting to assassinate McLaughlin (TRobert De Niro), a corrupt senator, but then gets shot himself. Although hurt, he goes on the run after Benz (Jeff Fahey), the one who double-crossed him; a “brutal rampage of revenge” ensues. Helping Machete now are Padre (Cheech Marin), April (Lindsay Lohan), and Luz (Michelle Rodriguez). Lindsay’s character is described as a “socialite with a penchant for guns”. Jessica Alba also co-stars as an immigration and customs enforcement agent.

This would be great news for Lindsay who has recently fallen upon some hard times.  Romance and gossip are the hottest items in her career right now and it is time to bring it back to her talent.  For those of you who are not familiar with Roberto Rodriguez’s work, he is the mastermind director behind such cult hits as From Dusk Till Dawn and Grindhouse.

The trailer for Machete was shot several years ago as a fake exploitation movie and was shown within the real movie Grindhouse.  Here is the official trailer, if you haven’t had a chance to catch Grindhouse yet.

The mock trailer was so well received that it motivated Rodriguez to get started on the real film as soon as possible.

When questioned about the upcoming project at last week’s Comic-Con, Rodriguez revealed few details.

“I can’t say too much about it, “Except that we start shooting in a couple weeks!”

He also added that we should prepare ourselves for the “set-up, double-crossed and left for dead” illegal immigrant who “knows the score, gets the women … and kills the bad guys!”

And while Rodriguez would not outright confirm rumors of Hollywood heavyweight Robert DeNiro signing on, he did reveal that he wants Lindsay to be part of the project.

“Lindsay’s cool,” Rodriguez said. “There’s actually a cool part in the movie for her — if she takes it.”

We certainly hope she does, too!

After the movie, come back here and tell me what you thought about it!! Would it have done well in theaters? Was the movie funny? How was Lindsay in her role??

The NY Times just did a big review of the film, saying that Lindsay did a great job with it, though the writing left something to be desired.

Mostly because of how her part was written, it takes too long for Ms. Lohan to shed her Hollywood reputation and wan, stilted demeanor and get into the role.

They don’t praise Lindsay in the entire role – partially because of typecasting, saying that the behaviour of her character was perhaps too tainted by Lindsay’s own life. They also share:

“this is not a triumphant return of a prodigal child star. She too often looks tired and ill at ease in a role that calls for an engaging, charismatic performance.”

So my last question will ask – did Lindsay’s history influence how you watched this movie? Was that a good or bad thing? Should Lindsay have refused this role, because of it?

In Labor Pains, Lindsay Lohan stars as Thea Clayhill, an assistant at a publishing company who pretends to be pregnant in order to avoid being fired (something she has to avoid, since she’s raising her little sister). With the help of her friend, Lisa (Cheryl Hines), Thea tries to pull off the deception long enough to keep her job secure.

Suddenly, Thea’s life changes for the better. She’s asked to head up a new family division of the company, a huge promotion for her. Though one assistant is suspicious of her, everything else falls into place. She even has a budding romance with her manager – a step above her loser boyfriend from before!

So, the question is, can Thea keep up her deception, or will it blow up in her face?

In Labor Pains, Lindsay Lohan plays Thea Clayhill, a woman who pretends to be pregnant in order to avoid being fired from her job. Thea realizes that her life “doesn’t suck” as a pregnant woman, so she keeps the farce up through the 9 months of her ‘pregnancy.’
