Lindsay Lohan’s “Poor Things” Cancelled
July 20, 2007 by Arieanna
Lindsay Lohan was to soon start filming "Poor Things" alongside Shirley MacClaine, but the movie has now been cancelled.
Early reports by Page Six were blaming it all on Lindsay Lohan and saying this was the end of her career, but this news has been refuted. Earlier claims:
ut last week, product vendors including GE and Dell computers, who had been promised placement in the movie in exchange for cash, got a disturbing e-mail from set designer Fontaine Beauchamp Hebb.
Hebb’s e-mail, with the subject line: " ‘Poor Things’ has been cancelled," said, "Sorry to be the harbinger of bad news, but I just received a call from Jacky Gilardi, the producer, pulling the plug on the ill-fated film.
"Apparently, Ms. Lohan’s antics in Las Vegas over the weekend have scared the bond companies and all of the funding has been pulled . . . I look forward to working together in the future and trust our next project will not be as fraught with difficulty."
The insurers were said to worry that Lohan, despite wearing an alcohol-monitoring device around her ankle and claiming to take daily drug tests, had gone out clubbing with pals. (Ironically, the plot of "Poor Things" involves two women who befriend and then murder homeless men to collect their life insurance.)
Despite their wild accusations, it was clear even in their piece that Lindsay was not to blame.
But a Lohan friend fumes: "She had nothing to do with that movie shutting down. It was a mess to begin with. They randomly fired Channing Tatum for Giovanni Ribisi, and then financing fell through because producers spent money like water. It was only supposed to cost $4 million – Lindsay was being paid nothing for that role.
And now a confirmation from TMZ that it was all due to financing – not to Lindsay Lohan in any way.
"The spending was out of control," we’re told, and that ultimately caused the film’s demise.
As for the Post’s report that it was Lohan’s hard-partying ways that sent the film packing — not true. Lohan’s arrest on suspicion of DUI happened just a few days before she was set to start shooting. The production company, it seemed, was fine with waiting for Lindsay’s recovery, even telling TMZ that Lindsay would be shuttled back and forth from Promises in Malibu to the set in Santa Monica. That, obviously, never happened.
I’m sorry that Lindsay won’t get to work with Shirley MacClaine, as that would have been a great thing for her career. Unfortunately, not all movie makers are good with finances, and sometimes things just fall apart.

It’s a shame that she doesn’t get the opportunity to make the film but it is a relief that it’s not her fault. Let’s hope that she will be handed a new project soon so that she gets the chance to show that she is disciplined and serious about her career.
Although it isn’t her fault this does her career no good I’m affraid.
I guess people will blame her for it anyhow.
Let’s hope not of course but the catharsis that Lindsay has gone through (and still goes through) is not enough to set minds at ease.Or silence bad tongues.
I wish her lots of strenght and good luck of course.
They are only trying to save face. I dont know why some people are deflecting responsibility and trying to absolve Lindsay of responsibility but she is partly to blame. After all she is a product and lately they haven’t been able to market her. Sadly in a way it is her fault. I wish her much luck though because she had alot of promise.
There is nothing “written in stone” that says Lindsay “must” continue to have the same career that she has had up til now. She may have done enough to decide she does not wish to continue any further in acting … at least not at the same insane pace she has been — she could say, “ok — I’ve had enough” and go on to something else … I think that is not likely — but neither is it impossible. If she does, whatever endeavor she chooses to follow will be blessed by her incredible endowment of talent and beauty. And her incredibly beautiful heart — which so far has been trampled under foot by family and media alike.
But now may be a good time for Lindsay to step back and strategize a bit over what it means for HER to decide what SHE wants to do — take a little time to distance herself from the intense path she was driven down while under her “mother’s” (?) “management” ( ? … is either term applicable?)
It may be that she (and we) need some time to transition from the “early Lindsay” era into the “adult Lindsay” era. A shame, really, that it has come so quickly — she never really had a chance to be much of a child or a teenager — she was so busy being the world’s most beautiful and talented actress (and surviving her parents’ … “difficulties”). Who can fault her, totally, for struggling to fit in a little normal adolescence (sans parental support) before saying good-bye to the first part of her life?
Lindsay has changed — we have changed — many of us still struggle to leave behind the cute adorable redhead we first came to know and love — a deep loss to some of us — almost as if she had died. Well in a sense, “that” Lindsay is no longer with us, and I’m not sure that we, or the rest of the world, have quite caught up with where Lindsay has gone. In fact — that may also be a problem for Lindsay — catching up with who she is becoming — not even knowing herself who that is. But I can tell you — whoever she turns out to be — she will always be our beloved Lindsay !!
Lindsay — we have loved you for all that you were, we love you for who you are now, and we will love you for whoever you become — just because you’re YOU!
As Always, your (knowing your life is yours to live — not ours) Affectionate Fan
i have no idea where this ’story’ originated from, but Poor Things is NOT cancelled, repeat,NOT cancelled.there is approximately three weeks of film in the can,and producers of the film are saying the RUMORS(theres that word again)are completely unfounded.the item i saw stated that Lindsays scenes are due to be shot following her scheduled press tour for I Know Who Killed Me.if anyone knows what talk and late shows she is supposed to be on,please leave a comment.peace
Sorry, but lohan is history. No one will want to make a film with her as she jeopardizes the financing, and no insurance company will now offer an affordable policy. Stupid girl. She can only come back if she can self finance at least the insurance policy which is probably far more than what she has in the bank.
