Lindsay Lohan wants to be ‘Alice’
Lindsay Lohan has given a very good explanation of why her hair is blonde - it is her aim to land an interview with Tim Burton for his upcoming remake of Alice in Wonderland!! Lindsay Lohan wants to be Alice!
This is part of the Harper’s Bazaar interivew that I thought deserved it’s own post because it’s so great.
Lindsay is as keen to work behind the camera as in front of it. She and Muro have been reviewing scripts for potential film or television projects for her company, Crossheart Productions. Getting a meeting with Tim Burton is a priority in the new year since he’s slated to direct Alice in Wonderland, and Lindsay is set on scoring the lead. In fact, that’s why she’s sporting the blonde locks. "I hope they don’t want an unknown," she says, distressed at the very possibility, twisting a forefinger around a thick platinum wave.
Tim Burton (’Sweeny Todd’, ‘Corpse Bride’) is making a new 3-D adaptation of ‘Alice in Wonderland’ for Disney. The movie will combine performance-capture imagery, such as that in Beowulf, with live-action fottage. The script is being written by Linda Woolverton (of ‘The Lion King’ and ‘Beauty and the Beast’). The new film is set to film in the early part of this year with an expected release date of 2010. Casting has not been announced, so Lindsay still has a shot!

shed be the perfect actress to play alice!!
i hope she gets it, tim burtons films are highly credited, it’ll probably get lindsay back out there, back into the movies shes best at acting in. And hopefully it’ll be a huge hit.
IF she gets it though, ill be so happy for her, she deserves a part like this, just to prove the critics wrong, she’d be amazing!!

Tim Burton can do no wrong in my book so yes this would be a great role for Lindsay esp if its all quirky & hinting at the dark side, kinda like LL’s latest photoshoots, plus I think something out of the norm would work wonders for her rather than typical Hollywood crap thats out there

I absolutely Agree, Lindsay would be Perfect for Alice in Wonderland, one of MY favorite movies of all time. The Script Writer is all I needed to hear about, She will make sure it stays to Disney Standards, not os much Tim Burton, whose movies I haven’t much cared for lately, although he did do a good job with Batman, but that superhero is a dark hero to start with. Alice is a Light Charecter. Not a Dark one, and he will have to be restrained a little to make it something the whole family will want to watch. GOD’s Blessings on this one Lindsay !

OMG! OMG! OMG! yes!!!! it would be perfect for linds! Im to excited right now! let me calm down! woo! hold on… yes, that role would be great for linds for the simple fact because it is a great wholesome family role which people will have no problem seeing and bringing their kids to see which makes an even bigger chance for linds to have a box-office hit! omg, this is lindsay lohans role! I know she can play alice better than any one else! its lindsays! if they are smart they already no they should give it to her, the queen bee! goodness Im praying! lord pleeeeze that her get this pleeeze! fingers crossed!

Are you kidding me? She’d be horrible. She’s far too old for the role, and plus she doesn’t really have the innocence of an Alice. Maybe when she took acting seriously she could have, but not anymore. And sucking up to him with her blonde hair is just plain dumb.
I hope you don’t make this mistake, Tim.

I think it would be an adult version of Alice in Wonderland Nia, which would be perfect for Lindsay. Tim always puts a new twist on the story.

I doubt it. Tim Burton twists usually make the story darker, not older actors as characters. What is Lindsay, 20? That’s still too old, even if he did want someone older than the classic Alice.
All in all, I think Tim’s too brilliant a director to cast her. Isn’t she also competing with Keira Knightley for another role? Yeah. Can’t get everything you want.

– and Lindsay has NO PROBLEM scaling a wide range of “ages” — when she is truly happy she is more like a delightful 12-year old !!! I think if Tim doesn’t make the mistake of pushing things too far to the dark Lindsay would be — (omg, omg, oMG, O — M — G! i’m so excited ) –

oh, and by the way, Nia, if you watch the original Disney cartoon version of Alice — critically — not as just being entertained you may likely note that the dialogue given for Alice (as well as other characters) has a depth that goes considerable beyond that of a young child.
The story (1865 - by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll) is a satire on many adult foibles and points of view.

Tim Burton movies are almost always dark, and that’s the great thing about them. They’re not like that bright Disney fluff we see on T.V. nowadays.
I don’t know where Lindsay got the idea that she could pull off a dark Alice. But that’s just me.
And Alice is still meant to be a young child despite her dialogue.
Of course, it’s pointless to argue opinions so let’s agree to disagree.

– although after “I Know Who Killed Me” — I would think Lindsay is ready to darken down as needed — if needed . And if that is what is needed, then maybe so much the better — we’ll just have to wait and see what happens — no need to fuss over mere conjecture, after all!

nia…i’d like to see YOU do scenes in front of hundreds of production people,pull 12-16 hour shoot days,memorize scripts,inhabit fleshed out characters,pull in 4 100 million plus movies,audition for other roles in front of complete,and critical,strangers,sing,dance,and the list goes on,before you get to be the ‘movie critic/back-seat director’,such a pessimist and a tad judgemental.before you get all bent and sanctimonious on me,i did take drama for two years in high school,so i know a little about what it takes to perform,and i have seen miss Lohan in action,in nov 2005,that girl can put on a show,and i have no doubt she could pull off the ‘alice’ role,no matter who directed or version of.but like you said,we’ll agree to disagree and i agree that you are sadly pessimistic.oh,well,smile,little camper,because we’ll soon see the fabulous,hugely talented,and absolutely incomparable miss Lindsay Lohan,back on the movie set.there,i’ve replaced your pessimism with my optimistic,positive,and love without reservation for this multi-talented,triple threat superstar performer.go,Lindsay,go!!!love you,miss Lohan.love always,a huge fan and friend.peace

I don’t know. I don’t think I’d wish being cast in a Tim Burton movie on Paris Hilton. Not that I automatically dislike Burton’s work, I’ve just gotten to the point where I realized I really don’t like most of it. If you were to ask me, I’d say the man peaked with “Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.” That may be his most perfect film and he probably should have sticked to doing that sort of thing, but, whatever.
Either way, Burton is high profile and getting a lead role in a Burton film would garner Lindsay exposure.
But, working in a Burton film is dicey. I get the feeling he’s not very good at working with actors. So working with him would tax her talents as never before. And even if she manages to pull it off, Burton tends to make his character act sort of off. So she’d be spot-on what Burton wanted, but the press would criticize her performance, anyway.
So, I’m thinking she may wish to try something else, but that’s just my opinion.

I think that casting an unknown would be a big mistake. In case people forgot, two of Tim Burton’s most successful films got made by taking RISKY chances. No-one at the time wanted Michael Keaton to play Batman for fairly understandable reasons (he’s a comic actor, not a superhero-type), and yet, he’s turned out to be the most famous Batman ever, more so than Christian Bale, who (I’m sorry to say) seemed to forget he was playing a MASKED MAN. He lacked the psychology to play the character.
Even more so, who would have thought that a seemingly clean-cut teen idol like the great Johnny Depp would ever so much as play Edward Scissorhands? To be fair to Ms. Lohan, Johnny Depp himself experienced a lot of pressure from early fame, including a series of highly unsuccessful films and unflattering tabloid coverage. People were ready to give up on him and then -PRESTO- he’s Captain Jack Sparrow.
Tim Burton, for the record, has never actually used unknowns to star in his movies. He’s always worked with famous and well-known actors by putting them in fantastical scenarios. Hence, we get the same kind of expectation from the actors, albeit from a different angle. And that makes the movie(s) more interesting as well as entertaining, as most people would agree.
If Ms. Lohan takes the part, we’ll be able to enjoy this story of Alice once again, but with a greater degree of realism, given Ms. Lohan’s own experiences in Wonderland and her natural talent.

Just to clarify something, when I said Wonderland, I didn’t mean the rehab facility Ms. Lohan went to. I meant that she’s been in a “Wonderland” of her own, with Hollywood and the paparazzi, etc.
I also think that it’d be an ideal choice for Tim Burton to work with Ms. Lohan. She has a very photogenic face and great filmic eyes, as well as a lot of raw emotion that could work really well for a Burton film.

Did I say I would be a better Alice? No, so that was kind of a dumb thing to say on your part. You’re not pointing anything out.

Since there is an element of Alice’s “coming of age” in facing a plethora of adult non-sequitors — things that too many adults take too seriously that are ultimately of little or no consequence …
SERIOUSLY, LINDSAY!! — I think you probably have the complete range of material to write and produce a near-parallel story based on your own life experience — there’s even a “real” “Wonderland” (and is there a “Queen of Heart(less)”?
Just THINK of how many of your past “F(r)IENDS” you could “immortalize” in such a work — lot’s of potential there, huh?
If the writers are still on strike let me know — I’ll be glad to help you write it!

she might be alright i am Unbeleibley excited for it either way because i adore ever tim burton film iv ever seen esspecially sweeney todd and i have find alice in wonderland a masterpeice of odd logic. Tim burtons perfect for directing the movie - the latest one was not as druggy and dark as the book but it was still amazing
I did hear johnny depp (LOVE) wanted to play alice and i really am crossing my fingers that he gets it. Helena bonham carter definetly should do something i think she would be one awsome alice but i know she wont be casted as her, She would be amazing as the queen of hearts that would be incredible shes perfect for that.
Lindsay is aliright ,, But johnny or Helen honham carter would be better for the role in my opinion, But its not like if lindsay is casted i would hate te movie - she really does want it i can tell .. She could do wonders or it could be a gas .. I just cannot wait!…

Alice was a young girl.. with a higher voice lindsay is so womanly looking and sounding. I am happy for her if she gets the role and i hope she does well! Not my favorite actress (my favorite is helen bonham carter haha) but Ill give her a chance.. i still hope for helen bonham carter or johnny depp!!!!! especially johnny depp..
