… a prisoner, held captive by impenetrable walls of incessantly-snooping, prying lenses,

… tortured by blinding torrents of much-too-brilliant flashes, ignited by the much-less-brilliant,

… taunted relentlessly by “Hey Leenseee” in a thousand different voices, none of whom I know, none of whom know me, nor care,

I inhale, I exhale, I bend over, I stand up, I sneeze, I laugh, I frown, I scratch my nose, and the whole world knows!

Oh! to simply but sit a table with the windows left open, so I could see out,

… to be free to dine as others do, unchained from the media fetters that constantly reach out and grab me,

… to be free from the swarms of flies, and gnats, and mosquitoes,

… buzzing, buzzing, buzzing, all the while trying to get close enough to suck just a little more media blood from my veins for their livelihood,

… pushing me further and further into my prison to escape from the danger of being consumed, overrun, and overwhelmed by their insatiable lust for media blood,

… oh, that I were free again, to walk with head up, not trying to hide, not needing someone to stand, to guard, to defend my next step on the sidewalk,

… what price, this, for fame and glory,

… when all I really want to do

… is just sing, and act,

… and just be

… free.
