Lindsay Lohan says Rehab changed her life
Lindsay Lohan is reported to have said that Rehab has changed her life - that she not only wants to drop her clubbing ways, but also find solace in herself. Something she’s struggled with before. Lindsay Lohan often said how she went out so she wouldn’t feel so alone - so hopefully she is learning to be happy:
The 21-year-old claims she detests being known as a party girl and has turned instead to meditation, spiritual prayers and political philosopher Machiavelli…
She told Tatler magazine: "It changed my life.
"I didn’t have a good grip on it and I needed to get my s*** together. I was going out too much and I had too much pressure on my shoulders.
"I was not that happy and I needed to go to that place to be happy.
"If I get stressed out I say a serenity prayer. I meditate too."
New and improved Lindsay even uses Machiavelli’s book The Prince, written in 1513, as a self-help guide which she carries everywhere.
She said: "I was going out with someone and they said I should read Machiavelli and I was like, ‘nah’, and then I was, ‘OK, I’ll read it’ and now it is always with me.
It’s an interesting choice of tome for a self-help guide - considering The Prince is about a bloke who must perform evil acts to achieve the greater good.
Here is the book:

Hi Lindsay!
That’s SO GOOD !!!! — to hear that things are changing – that YOU are changeing!! You have SO MUCH yet to do, to learn — I so hope that you will be able to leave the recent difficulties behind, and move on, embrace what lies ahead! YEAH! GO! girl! :-)
… but Machiavelli? Actually – great for expanding your horizons — so much of what you will do in acting will involve “re-stating” — as ONLY YOU, LINDSAY, can do — the drama that we humans live out — over and over again. Discovering it in great literature and the arts can only be helpful.
… but Machiavelli? OK – GREAT training for politics in your forth-coming adult life, and a plenty-enough challenge for the mind! You SHOULD find just about all of it in there – a great handbook for political strategy – for whatever rewards are to be had in that arena. Some things may strike you as “mildly familiar” – such as perhaps your parents’ relationship ;-) Read all you can, but don’t despair when you come to the end and find that there is STILL something – rather, Someone –- missing.
Lindsay, I am holding out for THE VERY BEST for YOU! More than all the success that can be had from winning the battles in this world, I pray that you will come to know The Assurance, The Peace, The Strength, and The Love that goes BEYOND all that – knowing every moment of each day, that you know Him Who Loves you more than anyone can. And Always will. Now THERE is some Serenity !!!
As Always, your (praying-that-you-will-rest-in His-Loving-Arms) Affectionate Fan

PS — one of my favorites from The Prince:
CHAPTER XXV: WHAT FORTUNE CAN EFFECT IN HUMAN AFFAIRS, AND HOW TO WITHSTAND HER
“ … fortune is a woman, and if you wish to keep her under it is necessary to beat and ill-use her; and it is seen that she allows herself to be mastered by the adventurous rather than by those who go to work more coldly. She is, therefore, always, woman-like, a lover of young men, because they are less cautious, more violent, and with more audacity command her. “
… eh, ok – good to know that is how some people see it — maybe that has to do with where the term “Machiavellian” comes from (suggesting the principles of conduct laid down by Machiavelli; specifically : marked by cunning, duplicity, or bad faith).
Is Lindsay trying to understand her mother better?

Him Again, that book the Prince, It keeps resurecting somehow, I keep hoping that it will just go quietly AWAY, but somehow Satan keeps bringing it back. At one time, we thought HE , machiavelli was actually the long fortold ANTI- Christ, but the reign came and went, and all he was, was evil. Not to the Despicable level of Vlad, the Impaler, But Evil none-the-less. Please Don’t be taken in by his less than subtle rhetoric. No good will come from THAT book. No Son of God, there. No Loving will of the Father, no working of the Holy Spirit, just daemons, and evil. I really wish I could get rid of that thing, should have destroyed it several centuries ago, but missed my chance. Ah Well. Lindsay Take everything in that allegded book with a few thousand grains of salt. I do not now and never will hold the typical male view of women. Women are not to be Abused, Tormented, or treated with any less Courtesy, Compassion, Loving Kindness, or Respect, than you would give yourself, as a Man, ( If so be that Man you are…) Not to be Under your thumb, Nor under Hers, NOT on a Pedestal, ( just statues there, no love no light in the eyes, can,t walk with you etc. ) Nor 2 paces behind you, nor Infront of you, but at your SIDE, as a companion on the road of Life, as a Shared and Sharing EQUAL. With Thoughts Ideas Loves Wants Needs Hates Dislikes and Likes, equally as important as a Mans. NOT a Second Class Citizen, EVER !!!! Any less is to Disrespect the Judgement of the Creator who made Her. AND Your Own Judgement in Marrying Her ( Or Afianced to same or just Dating same) . Long past time the Human Males of this world learned and believed these fundamental values, and got rid of the faulty second best Ideas so long prevelent in altogether too many cultures in the world. ooOOps! — I guess I should have qualified that in saying that is “one of my favorites … ” — I purely intended that to be understood as PURE sarcasm — meaning that the passage so very well illustrates the purely DEMONIC character of Machiavelli — one of Satan’s more ” … influential” agents.
Larry — of course I am right in there with you, as I hope you might know from all I have said before. But to share from my own experience — I can see where Lindsay is traveling a path similar to my own — and many others. For some people, salvation comes only after having pursued and exhausted a number of failed alternatives that ultimately prove not to be any salvation at all.
I have learned that I have to wait for His Timing — and that goes for Lindsay too. I would love to see her come to know Him — TODAY! — the sooner the better! But He has her in His Loving Arms, and will keep her safe while she searches. Not that there isn’t a fierce struggle here! Not meaning to seem crass, but can you imagine how p*ssed Satan will be when someone as beautiful as Lindsay turns to faith in Jesus? he has already tried to destroy her — and he will continue to try. But we WILL PRAY — and watch — and stand with her! The ultimate beauty of His Plan is that when she finally lets herself be found by Him — she will KNOW it’s HIM — and not anything any mere mortal — such as you, or I, or her father, has said. She will KNOW that it is by His Spirit she has been saved — and will be kept, and that is something that no person can give, and no person can ever take away.
Lindsay — we walk with you — through your trials — but always towards Him Who Loves you more than anyone else ever can. And pray that one day you too will know Him as we do — your Loving Heavenly Father, and His Son, Jesus as your dying-once-but-living-forever Savior.
So sure — if you must — read the Prince — read it well. Because at the end, I believe that you will know even more how very much you need to be saved from such evil, and you will go running into the Arms of the Other Prince — The PRINCE OF PEACE — away from the horrid darkness and into The Light — the Eternal Light of His Love that lasts forever!
As Always, your (holding-my-breath-as-you-go-through-this-one) Affectionate Fan
PS — I can’t help wondering what kind of life the person who recommended that book has?
PPS — where is Machiavelli now — and what is he doing there?
PPPS — where is Jesus now — and what is He Doing There?
PPPPS — which One of them would YOU rather be with — forever?
:-)

Some of the critics see “Il Principe” (as the original title is called )as a handbook for a ruler.
A polemic in politicology so to speak.
The tendency seems to be:”One does not have to be honest, one only have to appear to be honest”:In other words: the ruler (or The Prince if you want) is above the ethics of the commoners to achieve greatness (in good or bad).Feodality(however it may manifest itself) has its own rules.
Enjoy your book Lindsay. Will you let us know how you liked it and what it did for you?

An Interesting Political standpoint, BUT here in America, we believe that all men are created equal before the Law, as defined by peers, trial and error, and what is JUST and Right, therefore, there is NO prince, But Christ, and NO ONE Above the ” Common MAN ” But God The Father, Son, And Holy Spirit, ALL ELSE stand at the Pinacle of the Democratic Judgement, the Finest Principle ever, that ALL Are CREATED beings, NOT CREATOR, hence all are equally flawed, and hence NO ONE MAN ( or WOMAN ) is above the others in respect to the LAW, AND JUSTICE. Even our President, is not above the common man in the Rule Of Law, hence if he were to commit murder, would be equally tried for such a crime, would not by ‘ Right of Birth ‘ be a { royal } thus above the Common Man, and in an outwardly obvious artifical condition, hence above the rule of law, and of the [ Greatly Mistaken ] belief, that He, Or She, can do no wrong, hence cannot be judged by his peers, because he has by that definition, none. This is the CORE the ROOT of the flaw of ” The Prince ” and as such can lead to the self justification of ANY excess, that self same Excess that Lindsay is even now trying to slough off. God Bless You Always in this endevor Lindsay Lohan, to become sane again and Whole again and Healthy again. “I” Love you, from ME Larry T Robinson

Harry S — I agree — I too would be most interested to hear from Lindsay what she has gotten from her trek into (and hopefully out of) this tome. You certainly load it up well in summarizing that, “ … the ruler … is above the ethics of the commoners to achieve greatness (in good or bad).” That’s a real zinger there – “greatness (in … bad)” – is greatness? Kind of summarizes the “inconclusive conclusion” that this sort of work attempts to achieve (in SO MANY words). In much fewer words – from Proverbs 28:28: “When the wicked rise, men hide themselves: but when they perish, the righteous increase.” It seems that Machiavelli gave some tacit consideration of this – primarily as an obstacle to be overcome – which kind of tells you where he was coming from, and where he was going – and where he went – and where he is – hmm?.
Ultimately the only greatness is for good, and the source of all power for good comes from Him Who ONLY is Good. And true greatness is found in the servant who serves The Good and brings His ethics to “the ethics of the commoners.”
Lindsay has already found some of this, as she describes in her interview, that they “… teach you to give to other people and I walked away with the benefit of that.”
So Lindsay – if, when you have finished reading (enough of) that book, and you find yourself thinking that there’s something just not quite right about it – consider yourself blessed – which you are – with the loving heart that you have. To be wise and informed – of the strategies of those who are evil – is useful; to be filled with His Love – Priceless!
And you, Lindsay – ARE TRULY PRICELESS!

alright, people, lets have a little reality check here.
tatler is a british magazine,so right away you have to take everything with a grain of salt.no magazine article is without its slant, bias,or interpetation of the interviewer, read exaggeration, etc. even if some of this article is true and some fabricated,it is still publicity and in showbusiness,ALL publicity, good and bad, serves a purpose.sometimes an entertainer
must have different faces for diverse tastes or peoples,i.e.europeans versus americans.that machiavelli book is still quite popular in europe, while you would be hard-pressed to find a few people in this generation who have heard of it,
much less read it.europe is a much more liberal, secular, and wide open society, and would appreciate her use of this tome, hence the interview
with a british mag.some of this ‘current’ interview sounded suspiciously like her frame of mind after the first rehab, just my opinion.anyway,a lot of people in america are scratching their heads, thinking, machiavelli, what the heck??? which is why i think a lot of this ‘interview’ is taylored for a foreign audience,i.e.europeans.Lindsay is not going to dispute anything in this magazine, since its context is not meant for america.have you ever wondered why you never see celebrity commercials for foreign countries,in america?those ads are more racy, provocative, and usually present a different view of the celebrity package that we see in america, sometimes with less than desired results to the celebritys reputation here at home.those ads were meant to appeal to a different taste,a different culture, etc. which is why i don’t put a lot of stock in british publications.the brits even have topless women on page six of their newspaper!! now, that’s truth in advertising, lol. anyway, read the tatler interview again, this time imagine it is march07 and she just got out of rehab no.1,see if you get anything different this time.peace

update to my above comment:this tatler interview took place in mar/apr07 when Lindsay was in new york following rehab no.1 and is rather dated in the context of her present situation.i reread the interview and it is my conclusion that a lot of it is the words of the interviewer and the editor, not Lindsay.in the interview,Lindsay uses the word chastise,’am i to be chastised for wanting to go out dancing…’ wait a minute, nobody uses that bible word in america, except preachers.you gotta be kidding me!!! this article is full of brit-talk,and these are supposed to be direct Lindsay ‘quotes’,silly wankers.tatler is probably owned by the same group that runs ‘news of the world’ and other so-called net celeb-news sites.all of these pics were taken by bryan adams and used with permission by tatler mag in conjunction with their half-truth ‘interview’.another thing,if Lindsay was using this machiavelli book as a self-help(LOL)guide and carried it everywhere as the interview claims, why is there NOT ONE PICTURE of her carrying it,reading it,driving with it,posing with it,or even acknowledging its existence in the several months between this ‘interview’ and her return to rehab??? i’ll tell you why-this eurotrash machiavelli thing appeals to the more ‘cerebral’,metrosexual, liberal, and uber-liberated euro-thinker,than some dumbed-down american self-help thingamajig like dr.phil or oprah-ha-ha.puh-leeze…i asked a lot of my friends if they had ever heard of this book, and only one knew about it from high school in the early eighties, long before the net and cell-phones preempted our current generation from getting a decent education.nuff said.peace

Okay Dave, I agree with you, right on about the Trashloids embelishing their talks and ” Tales ” . It may be possible though for Lindsay to have SOME ‘ Christian ‘ references in her common language from time to time, as she has spent a lot of time around Adults, some of whom are devout believers in Christ, in one form or another, and would have used language like this in conversations with her, on just a routine level. Her vocabulary is probably pretty intense, even if she gets into a hurry with dialog sometimes, and misspells some words, we all do, with her hurried life, and no spell checker available on some of these blackberries etc. that actually is a possible outcome, thus her misspelled letter of condolence to the family of the late Robert Altman. but some of this is clearly embelishment on the part of the interviewer to ” Spice Up ” what might have been a sobering comment, not slanted the way the tabloid wanted us to take it. Too Bad Really, civilizations do not stand on Lies, and Mis-truths, they perish from them. God Bless You Always Lindsay Lohan, from ME, Larry T Robinson OR Tn.
