Lindsay Lohan Responds

August 2, 2008 by Arieanna

Lindsay Lohan has responded to the police chief’s public statement about her personal life, in which he talks about the paparazzi not being as much a nuisance since Lindsay has "gone gay."

Lindsay was caught on camera saying in response that:

"Police, you shouldn’t get involved in everyone else’s business when it comes to their personal life. It’s inappropriate."

  7. OPIE says:

I do think it was in very bad taste and poor judgment for the chief of police to say that. As if gay people don’t get drunk and stoned and drive their cars through people’s homes. He should have simply said that she’s seems to be taking her recovery seriously. Whether she’s gay or not has absolutely nothing to do with the matter at hand.

The matter at hand was whether or not the City of L.A. needs to pass laws or whatever to control the paparazzi problem. I think the chief is dead wrong. Oh sure, the misbehaviors of various young people has fueled the paps. The thing is, Lindsay has kept on the straight and narrow and they still mob her outside the grocery store when she’s trying to buy some Honey Nut Cheerios. And it’s not just the celebrities who have to deal with this, but any citizen who had the misfortune to shop for food at the same time Jim Carrey did.

The chief is turning a blind eye to real situation. It’s as if the police chief in Orlando had said something about the tourist problem going away if Walt Disney World would simply close. Nevermind that Disney World is the center of the local economy. Shutting it down or moving it elsewhere would turn Orlando into Flint, Michigan.

So it is with L.A. and the entertainment industry. He seems to not like having to deal with young stars getting into trouble with substance abuse, etc. and might even prefer if the movie industry were somewhere else. This is not a realistic solution. In short: the man is an idiot.

  8. Jaine says:

Let me play devil’s advocate here:
You know I have a love/hate relationship with the paps. People don’t seem to understand that they’re just doing their jobs. They get paid lots of $$$$$ to capture certain celebs and it becomes addictive to snap away.

Yes, there are times when they cross the line by breaking laws to get their pics, but you wouldn’t have all these fabulous Lindsay photos if it weren’t for the paps. You probably wouldn’t even have this site. People were up in arms when the paps got those pics of Britney Spears being taken to the hospital following her breakdown, yet they all bought those mags where the pics were printed and gobbled it up. It’s just something to think about. I’m just looking at this from another point.

  9. Jaine says:

Basically, the celeb needs the pap to stay relevant, stay in touch with their fans, promote a cause, movie and so on.

  10. OPIE says:

Well, Jaine, I don’t buy those magazines and I haven’t really been hanging around this site very much because I do feel like I’ve been invading Lindsay’s privacy looking at these pics. People gobble it up, but people also eat too much McDonald’s food. It’s not healthy. News and the occasional candid is fine but it’s got to the point where it just makes me sick.

This, of course, is just my opinion on the matter. but, you played Devil’s advocate and I responded with the way I feel.

  11. Jaine says:

OPIE I totally understand where you’re coming from and you make a very good point. I’m only trying to present another point because I like seeing issues from both sides of the fence. Paps are doing their job because the public’s ravenous consumption of tabloid journalism has become insatiable. And some celebs like being hounded by photogs while others hate being stalked. And the police don’t do anything about it, but shoot their mouths in front of a camera because they too are addicted to celebrity.

  12. Jaine says:

    P.S. I hate McDonalds.

  13. lindsaysfriend says:

Jaine — I think you have very well stated the problem — and not even realized it. It is, of course, people. People are … very stupid. They do stupid things, they enjoy doing stupid things, and one of the stupid things they enjoy doing is looking at other peoples’ misfortunes — and enjoying it! Now — just how stupid is that?

So — sure — the paps are stupid too, but they’re are just slightly less stupid than the people who buy their crap, which I suppose puts them just one notch higher on the food chain of stupidity, since they consume the wealth of those more stupid who pay for their pics. So — love/hate relationship? More like host/parasite.

I have said in this post — SEVERAL TIMES — we only need one or two — maybe at the most 4 or 5 *** GOOD*** photographers to give us pictures of Lindsay — and they would be MUCH BETTER pictures of Lindsay, because she would not have to hide, and dodge, and hold her nose at the stench coming from the mob of the unbathed, fecal swarm that constantly surrounds her. But then, why would stupid people want to see *better* pictures of Lindsay? When what they REALLY want to see is pictures of Lindsay being harrassed, and hassled, and having to dodge, and hold her nose at the stench coming from the mob of the unbathed, fecal swarm that constantly surrounds her … right? So who wants *better* pics of Lindsay when they can have miserable pics of Lindsay — he more she suffers, the better they like it — bloodthirsty, common mobs who want nothing more than to see misfortune — not blessing.

How appropriate that you “played” the devil’s advocate — not as though he needed one, or that he should have one — but, in truth, it IS his work that we see — both in the consumers and purveyors. Truth be told, the dependency of celebs on paps and vice-versa only underscores that both are pathetically lacking in much that is notable — especially when you consider that the greater percentage of “publicity” produced by the paps is negative, derogatory, false, un-founded rumors and distortions — is that something that celebs REALLY need? Please explain how Lindsay has benefitted from that…

The NOTABLE exception is that the TRULY talented — such as Lindsay — do NOT need all that publicity. Her talent stands, whether the paps have anything to say about it or not.

Actually, MUCH to her credit, Lindsay stands IN SPITE OF most of what the paps and fecal tabloid media have said.

Sadly, most of the consumers of what the paps produce are TOTALLY CLUELESS as to the truly great talent and person that Lindsay is — all they *know* (ugh — what an abuse of that word here!) is that she’s been a drunk, sleeps around, and is gay …

“… Basically, the celeb needs the pap to stay relevant, stay in touch with their fans, promote a cause, movie and so on … ”

No — trash-feeding consumers need the paps to feed their trash-eating appetites. It has NOTHING to do with relevance.

Consumers of fecal trash tabloids haven’t the SLIGHTEST connection with ANYTHING having to do with relevance to the great talent and person that Lindsay — or ANY *TRULY* TALENTED actor/actress — is.

  14. lindsaysfriend says:

OK — rant done — back to the center issue here —

Thank you, OPIE , RR:dave, and Jaine — it was TOTALLY “very bad taste and poor judgment for the chief of police” — I would hope a reprimand would be forth-coming, along with an apology … but not likely, seeing as the L.A. cops probably resent the “have-it” celebs only slightly less than the rest of the trash-eating world, and that only because it keeps them employed (and entertained) having to baby-sit the paps and make them play nice …

However … “even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue” (Proverbs 18:28).

Guess we can’t say as much for the chief, now can we?

  15. Jaine says:

Lindsay’s Friend you get my point. Thank you. Well spoken and well said. Paps are present because the public allows them to be. They are present because people support them by buying their pictures. So the public condones harrassment.

  16. Larry R says:

Okay, in all probability you guy’s are NOT going to like what I am about to type here…..but so be it. Don’t be to-o-o-o hard on the herds of pooping-ratzi’s that follow Lindsay or constantly look for her where-abouts, they probably can’t help the compulsion to do so. Had these same digital camera’s been around when I had my crush on Olivia Newton John, some 20+++ years ago, She too would have been hounded, as it is was the film industry had simply not gotten to the stage that a truly good image of anyone photographed and instantly ready to show that all-defining moment, was for the people who could afford it. It wasn’t cheap. Not like it is today, where with the purchase of a good high-quality digital camera, one can get a journalistic like photo in a matter of seconds, easily enhancable with a computer, for less than $ .0047 cents per photo, well, you see my point on cost, so any tom dicky and harry , can be a photographer wanna-be, spelled pooping-ratzi, this brings me to my next point, they simply cannot help themselves, because you see, the truth is “”" I “”" am a very powerful being, ( NOT GOD to be sure, but V-E-R-Y powerful ) very very powerful, and my overwhelming desire for my fabulous fantastic and one of a kind wow star, none-other than Lindsay D Lohan, has radiated out from my mind, and ( like leaking energy from a microwave oven etc. ) compelled these people unconsiously to go and photograph this singularly unique individual. No less strong a force than that has caused this public fascination with this marvelous person, I am consumed by Her, I want every fabric of Her Being, to be a part of my life, so my ” Mental Desire Force ” has simply overwhelmed these poor souls who don’t even know why they do these things, and I get my closeness to Lindsay, the only way I can. Lindsay Honey, I am truly sorry, but it is almost unavoidable. However if You were to Hop Over Here, to me, then they would not follow you, because my Lindsay Hunger would be satisfied…..Calhoon’s on the River at Lenior City Tn, is a Mahvelous resturant, we could have dinner there if you don’t like Copper Cellar, or Knoxville Tn.
GOD Bless You Always, Lindsay D Lohan, I Love You Always, me, Larry T Robinson O.R. Tn.

  17. lindsaysfriend says:

Thanks Jaine, and well said, Larry R. — they really can’t help themselves … it’s not merely incidental that lust and greed are so prominantly presented as core issues of the human condition — to be overcome, or at least managed; they are the very basis for many of the laws we have … people cannot help themselves, so there needs to be a law to help them … I would just like to see a few more laws to help the paps help themselves from being such a pain — at least at such a close distance.

But it DOES irk me, the oft-repeated saying that ” … the paps need the celebs, an the celebs need the paps “. At a very low (-life) level, maybe (I won’t repeat all I have just said above). It sounds like the same logic (?) — probably from a man — that if a woman experiences pleasure while being raped, it isn’t rape …

Where true talent is concerned, as is the case with Lindsay, the paps need Lindsay FAR MORE than Lindsay needs the paps — or the personal-space daily rape she has to go through (yeah, I can hear it now …” … but she really likes it …” )

    … OK — I’ll be quiet — just irked ..
