Lindsay Lohan Relapses on New Years: Drinks Champagne
Lindsay Lohan got carried away on New Years Eve and, when a champagne bottle was passed to her, took a swig. The whole thing was caught on video (below):
Despite this very sad transgression of Lindsay Lohan on New Years, her sobriety as of yet is still a top priority. Her lawyer has been making this statement to various news outlets.
"After being handed a champagne bottle while on a dance floor in Italy on New Year’s Eve and drinking from it, the good news is that Lindsay stopped herself, called her sponsor, and got herself back on track. There is no magic cure here. The most unfortunate part of this is that Lindsay has to share her ‘one day at a time’ with the entire world."
The response is very true. Lindsay Lohan is on camera and her struggles will be criticized all over the web, I am sure. And I do stand by the assertion I’ve made before - it’s difficult to stay sober in situations where others are not. So Lindsay should stay away from the parties altogether.

Sorry i must say a sip for an addict is always a relapse. I am so sorry for Lindsay, she must be feeling bad now, but we must point that these days must have been terrible for her with all those parties and alcohol drinks. We all are humans and we all make mistakes so let’s keep on supporting her.

ok she relasped. she is tryng to move 4ward. it’s nothing we can do. we have to move on to. yeah it’s sad. we weren’t expectng that but now we just have to root 4 her more. all you fans who are giving up, leave! lindsay’s still gonna have us. I’m stayin with the best. I’m not going to anyone elses team, because when lindsay comes back, and believe me she will and wins that oscar, I don’t wan’t to miss out on it and say, aw man, I should’ve stood by her. linds, I love you girl and I’m not going anywhere hun! This girl does not want to get better.
Someone who is serious about sobriety does not go out to these types of parties every night, does not surround herself with people who will give her alcohol, does not grab a bottle of alcohol and drink. She wasn’t “set up.” She chose to drink. And that is fine if she wants to drink. It’s not so great for someone who claims to be committed to sobriety.
Nothing this girl does surprises me anymore. I cannot even imagine the things that go on which we DON’T see.

It’s the first time after rehab i’ve seen her drink…and beside that it was a new year party and new year doesen’t come every day it’s just one day in a whole year…I think she deserves one day off…I really don’t think she was drunk…I don’t know enyone who doesn’t drink on a new year night…So this incident i’m going to forget…I just hope peaople are going to cut her some slack on this one…peace

An addict is ALWAYS an addict, she can take a free day of being an addict, nor even in new year, and it doesn’t matter if she takes a sip or she get totally drunk,that’s a relapse for an addict! You can’t say “hey don’t worry it’s your birthday and you’ve been 4 years without drinking.So have drink,you deserve it”.Guys it’s not like that AT ALL. It’s very hard but an addict has to know that he/she can ever have his/her addiction back,because it would be a relapse,and the begining of the battle again.
And it’s sad that Lindsay had that relapse,because she must be feeling so sad and frustrated (and maybe tired of fighting,wich usually happens). She really needs support now, SO LET’S GIVE IT TO HER!! Go Linds!! :)

oh, and “unknown” this girl WANTS TO GET BETTER,that’s way she’s fighting,going to AA and rehab and tests herself in that kind of parties SHE WILL ALWAYS HAVE TO BE AT because she is an actress.
She wants to get better,but it’s SO HARD,and we all make mistakes,and and addict too.
Sorry you all, but do you really know what being an addict is??? Because I’ve seen many comments talking about her relapse like she forgot taking a shower!

“unknown”’s comments will stay - although they are not positive, they are more argumentative than pure hating. I want people to be able to express their opinions within reason. Same goes for responses to the comments - it’s ok to argue your point, but don’t call people names.

yes so she relapsed i went to cirque too it is not easy staying sober whenever everyone around you is getting obliterated all the time we are not like “normies” who can have one drink its hard work what do you expect people relapse and when you do relapse its a scary thing and you have to start your sobriety date all over again this should not be in the public and she should have her own privacy with her sobriety and trying to work through it, its not fair…..people slip thats what its all about so fuck the paparazzi for even posting this shit cause they are low life pieces of shit

Frankly, I am not as shocked or disappointed by this as the dude she’d spent the night with. Not that I was especially shocked by that, either, but I said my piece under that news item.
It is difficult to stay sober, or as seems to be the case, not consume any alcohol, as I really doubt if she’d gotten much of a buzz off that one swig… which assume she’d had nothing else to drink, but let’s not second guess things.
In the end, it was one swig of champagne. I don’t begrudge her that. It’s easy to make mistakes when trying to be sober, and just as easy to try again so long as you don’t lose all heart and decide to chuck the whole idea.
Hopefully, she won’t do that after this. Sounds like she isn’t, which is a good thing.

this whole ’story’ could be a contrived lie of the smearNET.hear me out for a second-
1)the video does NOT show miss Lohan drunk or in any way,under the influence,she seems happy,and celebrating the new year.
2)the champagne brand(italian)could be non-alcoholic,but,of course,the smearNET/haters/trashloid media would NEVER tell you that,as there would be no story or drama
3)how do you honestly know that the publicist actually made a ’statement’ on the incident?these smearNET/trashloid jackals constantly claim that they talk to her ‘friends’,insiders,scources,p.r. people,even her famehound dad,but do you really know for sure that this statement is true?98% of the net is lies,so why not this?!
anyway,i don’t believe anything on the trashnet,unless miss Lohan actually addresses the issue,herself.take that,haters.this ‘incident’ took place new years eve,yet there are photos of her on new years day,at a movie screening at the film festival,and she looks radiant,happy,and relaxed.i say,hate the haters,go,Lindsay,go!!!

Actually I’m still a little bit uncertain that she is really an alcoholic. You know as far as I see she didn’t follow that one drink up with binge. So if she was an alcoholic that is what we would expect. Right? I sometimes think that this whole rehab think is just for the courts and the insurance companies. But, hell I’m probably wrong!

For god’s sake. This story could also be just as ludacris as Britney Spear’s. It was new years eve. She was in Italy, and she got handed some champayne. Big deal everyone. Think about it, the paparrazi are only getting paid for every click they get of her. Just like her laywer says, it’s terrible unfortunate that the whole obsessive world had to come with her on her journey to stop exessivley drinking.

Uhh.. coming from someone who has had to deal with addiction.. a slip up is a big deal. Yes, it is part of recovery but it is Lindsay’s fault that it happened. Having just completed a stay in rehab, she should not be in a situation where there are going to be countless drugs and liquors floating around. She should have been at a low key party at a friend’s house with people who respect her enough to stay sober with her for the New Year. If she doesn’t have any friends that would give up one night of partying for her then she needs to reevaluate who her friends really are. It was totally her choice to be in a drug-filled party environment where relapse is not only a chance, it is guaranteed. She knew that there would be too many temptations for her to handle… it was New Year’s Eve.. HELLO… she is just young and ignorant… it the curse of youth… not to mention the fact that she has no real authority in her life… But… then again, relapse is just a part of achieving and maintaining sobriety and this in no way means that she failed… she just has to learn what her triggers are and learn to avoid them

Oh and just because she wasn’t seen binging that night does not mean that she is not an alcoholic… Drinking every night, having pictures taken of you passed out in the passenger seat of a car… wasted! yeah.. I think the girl definitely had an issue with drinking and partying… and i’m saying this because i’ve been where she was when I was her age… and I have to watch myself and make sure I don’t put myself in a situation where I have the chance to slip up

OK so statistics show tht 1 in every 8 addicts is to relapes so lindnsey is just an ordenary addict just like all the others she is one of those out of eight if ur best friend was one of those would you stop supporting her?? Dont you feel bad the her little slipp was shown NATIONALLY think about it. the pressure these celebs r under and tht we r all just not suprised when someone relapses?? i say theres a cap but i mean one sipp why dont we just try and let her be so she can live her life how she wants if she wants to be in the public eye god for her but dont put the public eye focused on her shes just one in eight
