Lindsay Lohan in top 10 searches of 2005
Lindsay Lohan rounds off at number 10 on the top 10 most searched names on Yahoo:
SAN FRANCISCO (AFP) - Singer Britney Spears topped a star-studded list of the top-10 name searches on popular Internet portal Yahoo in 2005, the Silicon Valley company revealed.
Spears’ name has been the most searched term on Yahoo three of the past four years, having been displaced in 2004 by the television show “American Idol,” the company said in a written release.
Rapper 50 Cent was the second most inquired about name on Yahoo this year, followed in the line-up by the Cartoon Network.
Music diva Mariah Carey was fourth, with grunge rock band Green Day and actress Jessica Simpson fifth and sixth respectively.
Paris Hilton’s name was the seventh most searched term, with rapper Eminem, “The First Lady of Crunk and B” singer Ciara, and Lindsay Lohan finishing out the list in that order.
“The Yahoo! Search 2005 Top 10 Searches shows us that people are fixated on the activities of pop culture icons,” said the company’s “buzz index guru,” Erik Gunther.
“Everyone on the list this year had success either in music, film, or television so it appears that people this year are looking more at talent than controversy.”
