Chapter 27 will be released to DVD in the UK on April 28, 2008, and the DVD art has been released:

The actor’s shocking physical transformation (he piled on a whopping 67 pounds to play the part) is indeed remarkable, but it’s his central performance as a man on the brink of mental collapse that won him critical acclaim. The film’s title is derived from JD Salinger’s classic novel THE CATCHER IN THE RYE, which ends on chapter 26. Jared Leto and the director for Chapter 27, Jarrett Schaefer, hosted a Q&A about the film in New York on March 29. Lindsay Lohan was not there to promote the film, but I wanted to bring over some of the news. First, you can check out an interview here, which offers some insight into why Lindsay Lohan chose to work with a first-time director on this movie:

"I guess I beat the odds," he observed. "I know she really liked the writing, really liked the sort of earnestness of the script. And when you’ve got three great producers who have great credits each all coming together for this one little movie, you’re not exactly a first time director although you are. She trusted me and wanted to do a film like this. I think what’s great about Lindsay is that her work is getting infinitely more interesting and complex."

Great feedback! Lindsay definitely is growing as an actress.

And yes, Jared Leto is looking much better again! While he ate nothing but junk foot to gain the 60 pounds to play Mark David Chapman in this movie, his health was not great as a result. Jared says it took about a year to recover, eating healthy and even going raw.

Three generations of Lohan girls, minus Lindsay sadly, were spotted in New York City on March 27. Marilyn Lohan, ok after her car accident, Dina Lohan and Ali Lohan were heading about town filming new material for the E! reality tv series Living Lohan. They went to see an IMPACT company rehearsal.

Since Chapter 27 has now pre-screened in a couple of theaters across the US, and is soon to have it’s Opening Weekend for the April 4 night (you can win tickets!), I thought I’d check out some of the reviews. The reviews from the premiere overseas were luke warm, although Lindsay Lohan received a lot of praise. Here are some insights from recent reviews of Chapter 27.

The film itself is criticized in writing/direction for a poor aesthetic, and jumbled postmodern references that just don’t quite fit. Lindsay, however, gets some good reviews for her ability to take on a role (as Jude) that embodies so much (representing ‘all fans’) – she is supposed to fade into her role, but is given pivotal roles by providing Chapman with access to John & Yoko’s son. The movie is said to stumble after ‘Jude’s’ part is over.

• Gothamist gives a poor review of the film, but a good one of Lindsay:
  "Supporting characters like Lindsay Lohan, who, perhaps by contrast, comes off as refreshingly charming and adorable here, can’t wait to get the hell away from the self-absorbed Chapman."
• The New York Daily News gives a more positive review, understanding that the point of the film was to get into Chapman’s head, and to see the world in his distorted perception. Yes, it is dizzying, but that’s part of the point.
• TVGuide says the movie is painfully slow, too wrapped in self-pity, without much action. But that was true to Chapman in reality – perhaps too true for film
  "Lohan is fine as the fictitious embodiment of all fans with nothing more sinister in mind than securing an autograph or exchanging a few words with their idols"

You can read more reviews listed from Rotten Tomatoes, which gives the film an 18% overall. Keep in mind, independant films don’t always "click" with mainstream audiences, but they can still be amazing. If you take out that this is not an "action" flick, but a documentary look into the life of a boring and crazy man, and how that impacted the world, then perhaps you will see the true gems of the movie.

Lindsay Lohan is set to star in another new movie (Go Lindsay!) called Manson Girls.

E! reports that Lindsay Lohan has signed onto the film to star as Nancy Pitman, a once-loyal member of Charles Manson’s cult. The film will be produced by Brad Wyman of Junction Films. Manson Girls will shoot after Ye Old Times is completed, and will be due out in 2009.

About Lindsay Lohan’s character, Nancy Pitman: Nancy grew up in a wealthy home in Malibu. At 16, a friend introduced her to Manson. Nancy moved in with Manson and The Family, and become one of his most ardent followers. And she was there with him when Manson dispatched members of his "Family" to the home of an ex-business associate Terry Melcher, where they killed actress Sharon Tate and four others. Nancy Pitman (aka Brenda McCann) later was a part of the Aryan Brotherhood and was sent to prison as an acccesory after the fact to murder. You can read more about Manson here, and Nancy here.

Despite Lindsay’s troubled 2007, I think her model behavior of late has had an impression on the film industry, as the production company is insuring her for the film.

There was also a probably untrue scoop last week that Lindsay Lohan would star in a movie with Britney Spears called When Good Girls Go Bad – but the whole concept just sounds like a farce.

Dina Lohan has been ordered to pay $300,000 (plus interest & legal fees) to Lindsay Lohan’s ex-bodyguard Antonio Almeida and ex-bodyman Mitchell Chait.

Dina Lohan was sued last year for not living up to her side of a settlement. Their claim was that they loaned Dina money to help kick-start Lindsay’s career in 2003, and they were not paid back. The judge found in favor of Chait and Almeida this week. If Dina does not pay, her E! reality show, "Living Lohan", paycheck will be garnished. Dina’s legal team says they will pay, or fight, the order.
